 About the Society

Indian Psychiatric Society – Telangana State Branch (IPS TSB) is an association of mental health professionals residing or working in the state of  Telangana which is a branch of the parent body Indian Psychiatric Society. It is formed under the Zonal Branch Indian Psychiatric society South zonal branch. It was formed in March 2015.

Its main objectives are to contribute to the overall development of mental health services in the state of Telangana. To fulfill its objectives it organizes one Annual conference every year in the month of June, one Continuing Medical Education Program every year in the month of December, and one Post-Graduate training program every year in the month of September.

To promote psychiatry among the medical students, IPS TSB conducts quiz competitions for undergraduate students of Telangana during the annual conference and quiz competitions for post-graduate Psychiatry students of  Telangana along with Continuing Medical Education Program.

For promoting mental health in the community society through its members conducts various mental health awareness programs, free service camps, mainly during the mental health awareness week, 4-10th October every year. Many of its members publish mental health articles in newspapers and magazines. some of the members are giving talks on radio and TV.

Any person who has a post-graduate degree or diploma recognized by the Medical Council of India or Telangana state Government (M.D/D.N.B/D.P.M) can apply for regular life member of the society. Non-psychiatry medical professionals (MBBS / Diploma or Degree in other medical specialties) and post-graduate students can apply for associate members. Presently as of December 2021, there are 130 regular life members.

Telangana Journal of Psychiatry (TJP) (ISSN 2772-8706, E-ISSN: Online-2455-8559) is peer-reviewed journal published on behalf of the Indian Psychiatric Society - Telangana State Branch, Telangana, India. TJP is a strictly anonymous, double- blind, externally peer-reviewed, open access, scholarly, inter-institutional, official journal of the IPS- Telangana state branch. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository. Journal offers a platform for clinicians and researchers with divergent concepts and perspectives. It publishes manuscripts in the field of psychiatry, psychology, psychiatric social work, mental health nursing and all sciences related to mental health. Papers from all around the world are invited. The aim of the psychiatry journal is to publish latest advances and keeping it vibrant. In accordance with this aim original articles on all aspects of psychiatric disorders including epidemiology, aetio-pathogenesis, diagnosis, management, prognosis and prevention are accepted. Reviews, case reports, editorials, commentaries, stalwarts and viewpoints that focus on the topics of psychiatric research are also encouraged. Journal is published twice, January- June and July-December. The first decision regarding submitted manuscript is usually given in four to six weeks. Both print and online versions are available. journal had full editorial independence from the society.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

The journal will cover technical and clinical studies related to health, ethical and social issues in field of publish latest advances in accordance with original articles on all aspects of psychiatric disorders. Articles with clinical interest and implications will be given preference.
